This feng li (wind cut) viewing stone with its wonderful other-worldly surface is from Alashan Zuo Qi on the western end of China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. An amber-colored snuff bottle has carvings of eight fish, auspicious Chinese symbols of wealth, abundance, freedom and harmony. Four fish swim on one side below calligraphy incised on a shoulder of the bottle; four fish on the other side swim among lotus plants, emblems of fruitfulness.
